I hate the term “networking.”
Shocking, I know. But here’s why.
“Networking” implies that a person is only valuable for what they can do for you. They become a commodity or an asset. That’s a terrible way to grow a business!
Instead, we need to view getting to know someone as building the foundation for a genuine relationship.
When you form a genuine relationship, both parties are equally valuable. Rather than looking for ways to use or exploit the other to promote yourself and your business, your focus shifts to how you can add value to them and their passions.
This mindset and behavior will not only set you apart as a more valuable connection and friend, it creates an environment of gratitude. Looking out for them means that when they can do something for you, they’ll be honored to do so. Talk about a win-win.
As a female entrepreneur, your ability to form genuine relationships
will make or break your career dreams.
Entrepreneurship is all about being bold, taking risks and engaging others to build your brand, so growing and maintaining strong connections is critical. If no one knows about you, how will your business grow? Your relationships with others matter immensely, and you (and your brand) can’t afford to miss out on the richness they bring.
That’s what makes us Leading Ladies different. We put relationships first, valuing people for the amazing humans they are, instead of what we can wring out of them. Leave “networking” behind. Be a woman known for the value she adds to those around her and how she makes them feel – respected, special, valued and important. Be a Leading Lady.
Do you struggle with building strong, genuine relationships? Then The Leading Lady is for you, girl. Here you’ll find tons of resources to help you build real, valuable connections, and, when you’re ready, I’m right here to help.
